Prison Park

My brother neglected to tell us that the hotel we were all staying at was across the highway from a minimum security prison.
It was a perfectly lovely hotel with a great price tag that just so happened to be within walking distance (if you're brave enough to run across 6 lanes of highway traffic) to a federal prison.

What I found slightly comical was that there was a great shade covered park with a lake and walking track right next door to the prison. This park was no more than a few hundred feet from criminals. Crazy huh??
But...That didn't stop us from playing though! :)

Compared to all the other parks we've visited next door to prisons...this has to be my favorite!

B&B

One b for "breakfast" and another for "bathwater."
Let me explain...

We had planned a little mini vacation to Dallas over the July 4th weekend. Daniel's birthday was the 3rd and he wanted to go to Medieval Times for dinner so we packed up the car, made the short drive and were hanging out with my family by early afternoon.

We started the morning out with a special breakfast...donuts.
I can't think of a better way to start a vacation weekend than with sprinkle covered-frosted donuts...Can you? We sure didn't hear any complaints from Camden as he gobbled up his breakfast goodies.



After breakfast we made the four hour drive to Dallas, checked into our hotel and geared up for the pool. It was well over 100 and a nice cool swim seemed like the perfect afternoon activity. That is, until you realize that the "nice cool swim" is taking place in a pool with water the same temperature as warm bathwater. Not refreshing at all.
Our swim lasted all of 15 minutes before we called it a day. We decided our afternoon would be better filled with a nap in a cool air conditioned hotel room.

Just Because

I wanted to post a few pictures of Camden playing outside simply because I thought they were cute. For some reason enjoys being outside in this crazy heat...that makes one of us! :)

This Is How He Rolls

He put his hat on all by himself and wore it just like this the rest of the afternoon.
He's my cute little homeboy!

Choo! Choo!

Camden and I went to Toys R Us last week to pick him up a "just because" present. We don't often spoil him (although others may debate that...lol) so I though it would be fun to let him pick out whatever he wanted. (within Mommy's budget, that is)



After walking up and down various isles a large display of
Geo Trax caught his attention. We spent a few minutes playing with the train set before deciding upon a set of track and a red remote control train.



We opened the box just moments after returning home, inserted the 6 (yes 6) required batteries, snapped together the track and we're "choo choo-ing" around the living room in no time!

"I did it!"

Yes he did...
Look who climbed up into a big boy chair all by himself!


Just a few days later he climbed into the same chair and then up on top of the table. I think we're in trouble now that he's discovered his "inner monkey."

Who Needs a Pool?

My first answer to that questions would be "we do!"
But after seeing how much fun Camden had with water hose, it clearly isn't a necessity.
