On The Boardwalk

Thursday afternoon we braved the sweltering summer sun and took Matthew to the Kemah Boardwalk. He's been once before, but it was shortly after Hurricane Ike and everything was still in shambles.





We ate dinner at T-Bone Tom's (my fave) before hitting the boardwalk and riding a few rides. Camden rode the carousel twice; although it would have been twenty if we let him. We all took a ride on the Ferris Wheel before walking the boardwalk to the fountain. Camden was fascinated with the water shooting out of the ground even though somehow he managed to stay mostly dry. After a little splish'n-splash'n Camden and I watched Brian and Matthew ride the rollercoster before heading home.
It's always fun to be a tourist in your own backyard.

I have issues with his hair when it's shaggy...and it was shaggy.
Time for a hair cut!

We went back Cool Cuts for kids after taking him to Brian's stylist a few times. He always cried at Cool Cuts but never when Brian took him so I thought it was time to give it another try. He was a big boy and only cried (that should read, "screamed bloody murder") when she trimmed the hair on his neck and around his ears with the clippers. After receiving a sucker he was as good as new.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

On Saturday we took Camden and Matthew (Brian's little brother who's staying with us for a couple of weeks) to an Astros game...a first for both. I must say, I was a little apprehensive about taking Camden to a place where he was going to be confined to a chair between Brian and I for several hours without a "lively" form of entertainment but was pleasantly surprised by how well he behaved.



Once in our seats Camden exclaimed "WOW!" He sat like such a big boy in his seat and ate his share of baseball goodies. We started out with all of the ballpark essentials: hotdogs, nachos and drinks. Camden scarfed down an entire hotdog plus a few bites of a second along with chips and applejuice. Yummy!



Camden would smile and clap whenever the croud became excited....truely adorable!
About midway through the game Camden fell asleep on Brian's shoulder. After a short nap we shared a helmet sunday with sprinkles. (Camden loves sprinkles!)

Take A Seat

Camden is at a stage where he wants to do what you do.
When he's playing outside in his little pool I usually pull up a lawn chair and soak my feet. When I walked to the patio to answer my phone the other day he took advantage of my absence from the chair and climbed right up. After relaxing a few minutes he slid his skinny little self through the arm of the chair into the grass.





I swear he eats...even if he looks like he's all ribs!

Bed Bug

This was the picture in our hotel room before
leaving Dallas last weekend:

Nothing like a big ol' glass of milk, a paci and watching cartoons in your jammies while Mommy and Daddy pack up to leave the hotel.
He's my little bed bug!

Medieval Times

Medieval Times is a themed restaurant where you watch a show with knights, a king, a princess, horses, jousting and sword fighting all while eating with your hands.



We had a blast cheering for the Blue Knight (who was the knight for our section) even if he didn't win the tournament. Camden, even though he fell asleep for half of the show, enjoyed watching the horses and knights. We all came home with paper crowns, a group picture, full tummies and great memories.

Dallas World Aquarium

Don't let the name fool you; it's more like a mini rain forest zoo than a traditional aquarium.



You walk along a wood plank path that winds from the top floor to the basement level through a tropical setting scattered with various animals and birds. Once you reach the bottom floor you see the multiple tanks with fish, sharks, turtles, manatees, starfish and other water creatures.



The highlight of the entire visit was the tunnel that you could walk through in two of the largest fish tanks that were filled with sharks, turtles and the biggest catfish I've ever seen.
