Nap Time With Daddy

Last Tuesday Brian had the day off for Veteran's Day. Camden decided that this would be the ideal morning to wake up at 5:00. After giving Camden a bottle Brian was holding him trying to get him to fall back to sleep. (So we could do the same) After fidgeting for a while, Camden squirmed around and finally got comfortable. Don't they both look comfy and cozy? Too cute...I just had to share.

Cupcake Cookies

Okay...so they're really just Cake Mix Cookies, but I thought Cupcake Cookies sounded cuter. Our church is having their annual Extravaganza, a fall festival, and asked members of the congregation to make cookies to sale as part of the fund raiser for the school that the church operates.

I had managed to snag several boxes of cake mix on sale recently and decided to make these yummy little snacks. After calling my Mom for the recipe I pulled out the ingredients and got to work. While Camden was napping I mixed together three different batches of cookies with the simple ingredients needed.

In a little over an hour later I had chocolate, strawberry and vanilla cupcake cookies. Of course I had to taste one (okay, a few) to make sure that they were as delicious as they looked.
Yummy! Yummy! (If I do say so myself)

Camden even had the pleasure of enjoying a cookie for his afternoon snack. Call me crazy...but I think he liked it?

CUPCAKE COOKIES:
1 Box-any flavor cake mix
1 tbs-milk or water
1 tbs-oil
1-egg

Mix all ingredients together. (The mixture will be slightly dry)
Once ingredients are mixed, roll pieces of dough into desired size cookies. Place approximately 1 inch apart on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool and enjoy!

Baby Blues

I was transferring pictures from my camera to the computer and came across this up close shot of Camden.
(Who else would it be of...really?)
I was trying to get some pictures of him crawling and he was moving a lot faster than the camera. By the time the final shot was taken he was crawling up into my lap.

While it's not a picture that anyone would mistake for a professional shot or even a decent picture, it shows off his beautiful blue eyes.

Little Charlie Brown

Since Camden was a few weeks old my brother Daniel said that he looked like Charlie Brown. His little comment spread like wildfire and soon Camden was being referred to as Chuck, Charles or simply Charlie Brown by most of our friends and family. The little nickname has seemed to have stuck.

I've never agreed with that little comment and have discouraged the use of it. I always thought Charlie Brown was kind-of dopey and in no way resembled my bright, intelligent and adorable son. With that being said, when I found this onesie I just had to buy it.

This onesie will probably not help the nickname go away...but at least he makes that little zig-zag shirt look a lot cuter.

Medieval Times

This past Saturday we made what was supposed to be an hour and a half drive to the Texas Renaissance Festival. Our dear friends Tyler and Whitney came along for the ride. After all, it was 1/2 Tyler's idea that we go. As for the other 1/2, that honor belongs to Brian.

Several weeks ago while watching a Tech football game (GO RED RAIDERS!) a commercial came on advertising the festival. Tyler and Brian became very excited about the food possibilities and immediately declared that all of us were going to go. Whitney and I protested initially but actually got a little excited once we planned our trip.

We watched a jousting match, ate lots of yummy food, saw a hilarious comedy performance by Ded Bob, walked around an entire Renaissance city and saw the most eclectic mix of individuals, both young and old, most of whom were in costume.

It was a great afternoon and we're already talking about going back next year. Although, we're planning to stay longer than the three hours that we did this year. There is just too much to see in such a short trip. And don't worry...none of us will be attending in costume! :)

Window Watcher

Our house is a perfect little square.
Yep, all four side are the same length. (Yea for geometry!) Our house also features an inner square also know as the atrium. It's a little hard to describe but basically there set of inner windows in our house that lead to a small outside courtyard.

The base of the atrium is brick and rock lined with, now don't laugh, fake plants. We have plans to one day give this extra outdoor living space a full makeover, but until then the fake plants will stay.

Anyway, Camden loves to stand and look out the windows.
I'm not sure what he finds so interesting out there since, after all, all that's out there are bricks, rocks and fake plants but its one of his favorite places in the house.

As you can imagine, from the floor to about three feet up on the window there is nice thick coating of sticky-slobbery finger prints.
No sooner have I washed them away, they seem to make a reappearance moments later.

Just a little side note: His shirt was removed after a very messy lunch and wasn't replaced after nap...he's usually clothed. :)

Sightseeing

Last weekend when my parents were in town we decided to become tourist and do a little sightseeing. We went to visit the Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto Monument.
It was amazing to walk through a piece of Texas history and learn about how our state fought for its independence.
Oh how I wish I would have paid more attention in Texas history!
