Halloween Night

Our Halloween festivities began with treats
at home and a birthday party.
Gill brought Aiden and Annsley over just in time for finger foods and sweet treats. We also had a birthday cake to celebrate Aiden's birthday earlier this week.

After all of the eating and opening of birthday presents we got the kids into their costumes and headed out to do a little trick or treating.
Camden was Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba!
It is his favorite show and Brobee is one of his favorite characters so when I came across the costume online we just had to have it.

It only took one house for Camden and Aiden to understand that the houses we were visiting were going to give them candy. Aiden handled saying trick-or-treat while Camden held out his bucket and said thank you. Brobee, Sponge Bob and a cute cow visited about ten of our neighbors while filling up their buckets with candy.

Everyone was pooped once we made it back home.

We managed to wrangle the candy away from Camden before getting him into the bath tub but not without a few tears. A bath was quickly followed by snuggles and bed time. It was a busy, crazy wonderful day that Camden, Brian and I loved.
(I hope Gill and her kiddos did too)
Happy Halloween!!

Just a Sneak Peak

This is just a taste of the oodles of pictures I will take later tonight as we take Camden trick-or-treating for the first time.
Feast your eyes on Brobee:

I have high hopes that I'll get a picture of him later where he's looking at the camera but I'm not holding my breath.

Puddles

Puddles always seem to be magnets for clean dry shoes.
The "lake" on our back porch is no exception.
Camden jumped right in and splashed about soaking his
socks, shoes and pants up to his knees.

Finger Painting

One rainy day last week I had the bright idea to finger paint with Camden. He loved smearing the paint around the paper and quickly discovered that it could be used as body paint as well.
After repeatedly saying "paint is for the paper-not for your body,"
I gave up and let him have at it.
Needless to say a bath quickly followed our painting session.

After all was said and done we had a clean boy fresh from the bath tub and Camden's first finger painting drying on the kitchen counter.

Big Boy Bike

Brian and I have talked about getting Camden a tricycle for quite a while but have hesitated to do so because he doesn't quite have the coordination to peddle by himself. Well, last weekend we finally gave into our desire for a tricycle but opted for one with a handle. Camden loves his new "bi-sick-ee!" Now we cruise the neighborhood and drive way in tricycle style with Camden at the wheel and Mommy or Daddy pushing him along.

Front Seat Driver

Camden isn't content with being a backseat driver.

Luckily I have a few more years (at least 13)
before I have to worry about him driving.
Although he he looks ready and has most of the motions down...may take off before I'm ready for him to.

The Tool Man

It's always amazing to me to see Camden be such a boy.
He LOVES his tools and will "fix" most anything around the house that he can hammer on or has a screw he can fit his screwdriver into.

This was one of the rare occasions I was able to snap a few pictures of him working on something other than the TV.
(which he continually gets into trouble for)

Big Boy Bed

It's hard to believe that the tiny little eight pound baby we set this crib up for is ready for a big boy bed.

We tried to convert his bed about a month ago and it didn't go well; by 9:30 we were replacing the crib rail to the front of his crib.
This time it's gone much smoother.
Friday, after Camden's nap, he woke up yelling "Off! Off!" and was pushing against the front of his crib. So, we took off the crib rail and put up the toddler rails and he's been in his big boy bed ever since.

There has been much more excitement about his "Bee Boy Bed" than tears. He's so proud that he refers to it throughout the day and wants to show it off when friends come by the house.

Needless to say, the first picture with the bed
nicely made only lasts a few seconds.
It doesn't take long for him to pull off his new "uvers" and start jumping off of his bed onto the rug, blankets and pillows below.

Sunday in the Park

The weather has been absolutely beautiful outside the last few days. So much so that I've almost forgotten that we live in Houston.

Jokes aside, we went for a walk today after Camden's nap and visited the little park close to our house. We all took a turn on the swings, ran up and down the little hills and explored all of the pine cones that had fallen to the ground.

Mommy's Little Helper

Friday morning Camden and I made a yummy little treat called cake balls. They're simple to make but take much more time than just a plain ol' cake.

Camden helped me make the initial cake while I did all of the hard work to actually "make" the balls. These are a super sweet treat that we've decided needs to be a special occasion food since we've gobbled them up in one weekend with the help of a few friends.

Cake Balls:

Make any flavor box cake mix according to the directions. After the cake cools crumble it into a large bowl. Mix in about 2/3 can of canned frosting until the mixture becomes pliable but not too stick. Form the mixture into small balls and place in the freezer for at least an hour. Once the balls are chilled melt almond bark or melting chocolate. Coat each ball in chocolate and set aside to cool. They can be placed in the fridge to speed of the cooling process. Once the chocolate has set its time to enjoy!!

Like I said, easy but takes a little extra time and effort.
Caution: They're super sweet and hard to pass up!

Dewberry Farm

Saturday we ventured out into the country and visited Dewberry Farms. I can't put into words how much fun Camden had or say enough good things about this place so I'll let the pictures do the talking. I took over 130 pictures so I picked out a "few" of my favorites. We've already decided to make this a yearly tradition.
