Ice Pops in September

I was laughing with a dear friend of mine a few days ago about how it was the end of September (now October) and I was outside with Camden eating popsicles after going swimming.
We both declared, "only in Houston!"
I don't always hate the weather here.

(As you can see there is a reason we have popsicles outside.)

New Kids On The Block

The title should read "New Blocks For The Kid," but I'm a nerd and had to make a late 80's boy band reference. Both titles need work.
What was I writing about??? Oh yeah, blocks!

This afternoon I broke out my big ol' box of foam blocks.
These have been tucked away in the garage since I packed up my classroom two years ago. (*sigh*)

Anyway...I figured it was the perfect time to dump 'em out and let Camden build to his little hearts content. I somehow wound up doing all of the building and rebuilding since all of my towers
were quickly demolished.

Random note:
Yes, he is wearing his swimsuit.
Mismatched t-shirt, swimming trunks and socks are the "new" look.
Didn't ya know?

Fall Is In The Air

We've been teased with cooler days off and on over the past few weeks but this morning was the first day it "felt" like Fall. Camden and I started the morning off with an extra long walk after breakfast and played outside in the backyard for another hour.

I think that Camden's collection of leaves is more evidence of Fall's presence...especially since they're brown and yellow and not the green leaves the squirrels frequently drop all over the yard.

It's The Simple Things

This boy can have more fun with a water hose
than just about anything else.

It's so simple and it makes him so happy.
He's simply precious! :)

Paintin' With Puddin'

Camden was in a particularly cranky mood yesterday morning and was not content with any of our normal games, toys or activities.
What's a mom to do?!?

It was just about his morning snack time and I was rummaging through the fridge to find him some yogurt when I found one last vanilla pudding cup hiding in the back of the refrigerator. I immediately popped open the pudding cup, pulled out a cookie tray and headed outside.
Once I changed Camden into his "suit" (as he calls it)
we went outside and he dug in.

Disclaimer:
I must admit that I stole this idea from my sis-in-law after she did it with her kiddos...I cannot take creative credit.
Thanks for sharing Christine! :)

Raider Power

While in Lubbock a few weeks ago we took Camden for his first "official" visit to the beautiful campus of Texas Tech University.

Camden has already learned to say "Go 'Ech" when
he see's a Double T or Raider Red.
(we taught him early)

He's our little Red Raider!

Hittin' The Pool

When Brian and I went out for our date Sunday night we made a little pit stop at Target to check out a couple of sales and look for Camden's some new bedding. We struck out on the bedding but managed to get a great deal on a covered swimming pool.

Camden has a little wading sprinkler type thing but didn't have a pool of his own...now he does! A little bonus-It's even big enough for mommy to crawl into and splash around in. :)

Salt Water & Salt WaterTaffy

Monday morning we got up bright and early and headed to Galveston to spend some time at the beach. We drove down past the seawall to our "usual" spot. (We've been there a whole three times)
We got Camden decked out in his swim suit,
ditched our shoes and hit the beach.

After we cleaned the sand off of us, as much as possible, we loaded up the car and headed to the Strand. We walked a few blocks and did some shopping before grabbing lunch. Before we left the island we visited Kings Confectionery for ice cream and other sweet treats. We got to watch them stretch and wrap salt water taffy and even taste a few samples. We were so glad that they reopened after Ike, it is one of our favorite places to visit on the island!

Time To Feast

I've been told that with my my blog is either feast or famine.
Get ready to feast!

Brian's mother came into town to spend the long weekend with us. We picked her up Friday night and have been busy ever since. Saturday we spent the morning around the house then went to Kemah to walk the boardwalk, play in the fountain and eat dinner at T-Bone Toms.

Sunday we went to church and ate lunch before heading home to take a nap. That evening Brian's mom was so sweet to watch Camden so that Brian and I could have a date night.
We went to Star Cinema Grill and watched "All About Steve." It's super cute...I highly recommend it. :)

Like I said, it's time to feast...
Labor day pics to come.
Stay tuned!
