Out For a Walk

Yesterday had to be one of the most beautiful days we've had in a while. It was in the upper 70's with a slight cool breeze. (Notice that I said slight...just have to rub it in for those in West Texas) How I wish it would stay that nice throughout the summer! Can you tell I'm already dreading it???

Anyway...We just had to take advantage of the beautiful day outside so I loaded up the kiddos in the stroller and off we went for a walk. It's amazing how quiet two children will be (even if it's for a few moments) if you simply take them outside. I love that we finally purchased a double stroller...It's my secret weapon! lol

After taking Camden and Annsley for a walk I let Camden loose in the backyard to play. Much like every other time he's played in the backyard, Camden couldn't help but pick up every leaf within his reach, hold it up to his mouth, look at me, smile, and proceed to put it into his mouth while laughing. He's such a stinker!

On a random side note...
Doesn't he look adorable in his new shorts and t-shirt? He's actually wearing a 12 month! Okay, it's still a little big and he could probably fit perfectly into a 9 month, but at least he's getting big enough to wear clothes that don't make him look like a "baby." It seems like once you hit that 12 month size the clothes just look a little more "big boyish."

These Boots Are Made For Walkin'

Okay, so there aren't any boots involved...but there are feet!
Here are the much anticipated videos of Camden walking.
(Ignore the baggy pj's)
Now, take into consideration that Camden isn't the best performer and usually quits doing whatever it is you try to catch him doing once the camera comes out. I can honestly say that he isn't a showoff! :)

This video catches his last few little booty shakes while
listening to the end of a song by the Happy Monster Band.
Doesn't he have the cutest little hiney? LOL
(He'll roll his eyes at that comment one day)

Think Inside The Box

I had every intention of posting this a few days ago when I actually took the picture but it took reading my sister-in-law's blog about my niece having fun with a box to motivate me to sit down and actually do it. Well, this is Camden in a box. :)
I don't have a "cute" story to go along with it other than the fact that he will push this empty box around the house smiling as he does so. Occasionally he'll climb inside only to get frustrated when he has trouble climbing out. Again....here's Camden in a box! :)

One...Two..and Three

There aren't many pictures of all three of us together for some reason.
Okay, so there is a good reason...
Someone has to be behind the camera.

So when Brian e-mail me this picture I just had to share.
It was taken when a group of professors from SPC came to Houston to preform an experiment on the zero-g plane at NASA.
We met up with them for dinner at a local Italian restaurant to catch up and eat some yummy food.

Anyway...I just wanted to share a recent picture of all three of us. :)

This is what happens when...

This is what happens when the blockade we've been using to keep Camden out from behind the TV stand can be easily moved by the little one who, for some reason, desperately wants to climb back there. (Doesn't he look guilty??)

This is what happens when your one-year-old discovers that with just a slight pull outward, the handles on the filing cabinet under the desk that he's been using to pull up on for months, will open. Once open, the contents of the cabinet can be emptied onto the floor in a matter of seconds!

A Little Boost

Camden, like most young children, eats his meals and snacks in a highchair. We always eat our meals as a family at the kitchen table. I was starting to feel like Camden wasn't a part of the "family dinner" because he was in his highchair which was as close to the table as possible but still off to side. So, last week I make a trip to Target and purchased a booster seat. With the instillation of four straps and two buckles Camden's "big boy" chair was installed. I think he's much happier at the grownup table.

In addition to his new chair we've also started giving Camden bowls, plates and utensils at meal times. He does really well with a bowl or plate until he's finished eating or he runs out of an item he really wants. At that point, the bowl usually winds up on the floor. Camden loves using a fork or spoon but needs assistance getting his food onto it. He'll take a bite and hand me the utensil to put more food on it. We'll keep working to make using a spoon an independent task. :)

I'll watch him sometimes and just be in awe of how much he's changed and how quickly he's growing up. *sigh* How did my baby turn in to a big boy so quickly?!?!

Play Date

Today Camden and I met up with my friend Gill and her two kiddos, Aiden (2) and Annsley (4 months), for a play date. When taking Camden to the doctor months ago I remember passing a shopping center with a sign over one of the units that said "Monkey-n-Around." Directly under the sign was a window painting which said "Indoor Playground." So when Gill and I were talking about getting the kids out to play and discussing other places to take them that are indoors that weren't fast food restaurants it seemed like the perfect opportunity to check it out.

Basically, its a big open room filled with various toys, slides, climbing structures, trains, blocks, balls and riding toys. Many of the toys can be found in most living rooms and bedrooms of families with children but the fact that they're all together in a clean, child-safe environment makes it a great place to put your little one down and let them explore. Gill and I were even brainstorming about how we could open a similar establishment and make it better! :)

Since Camden has started walking he's discovered that he loves to climb. He was able to climb up a mini-staircase, a jungle gym, overstuffed blocks and padded platforms. He also crawled through a train tunnel, into and out of several play houses and all around the padded floor exploring. He had so much fun and was busy playing that I didn't get a single picture where he was looking at the camera. We will definitely revisit Monkey-n-Around's indoor playground! This will be especially true when summer arrives with the heat and humidity.

Cutie Pa-Tootie

Last weekend we took Camden to have his one year pictures made and I was so surprised when Brian came home from the mall with the prints in hand. They weren't supposed to be in until next week so I was more than excited to have them early. I still can't believe that he's one!
Check out my little cutie pa-tootie!

My favorite!!

It took a stuffed animal and some silly noises to get this adorable pic.

Don't worry...it's not another real cake.

Yes...he's walking without assistance now.

My little four-wheeling daredevil.

If Brian has his way he'll have a real one in just a few short years.

A Perfect Saturday

Saturday was the first day we've had on a weekend in LONG time that wasn't full of plans. It always seems like we work so hard to get to Saturday and Sunday only to fill those days to the brim with activities.
Anyway....Saturday was perfect.

After a pancake breakfast and Camden's morning nap we were off to the photographer's to have Camden's one year pictures taken. They turned out SO CUTE!!! We'll have the prints on the ninth and I can hardly wait! After pictures were done we went to eat an oh-so yummy lunch at Pappas Bar-B-Q. After that we were on our way home just in time for Camden to catch his second nap.

Once he was awake he packed up the diaper bag and were off to the park. We've taken Camden to the park before but he wasn't really interested in it at the time. I think he was still a little young and wasn't getting around near as well as he is now. This time he loved it! He's still a little small for some of the climbing structures but he was able to do so much: slide, ride a bouncing rocket, walk to the top of the playground, spin letter balls, "drive" a steering wheel and swing. He loves being outside and enjoyed the change of scenery and toys. To end our excursion we made a quick stop at Ben & Jerry's for some ice cream. Camden's day concluded with dinner, a bath, a story and bedtime.

What did I tell ya??? A perfect Saturday!
