It's Dancey Dance Time

I don't think it will come as a surprise to anyone who knows Camden well that Yo Gabba Gabba is still one of his favorite shows. When he's given the option to watch a show he'll almost always ask for Yo Gabba Gabba. One particular episode is about being scared. In the middle of this episode there is a "dancey-dance" called Razzle Dazzle. After watching it one morning he kept recreating the dance and song so I broke out the video camera to capture his performance that includes the Gabba theme song.

Patience

Camden, like most small children, wants what he wants when he wants it. We often have to tell him to wait and be patient. This is not an easy lesson for any child (and sometime adults) to learn.
Which brings me to my Camden story:

Camden loves to help with the laundry. He will help put clothes into the washer, pour in the soap and wait anxiously for the wash cycle to begin while asking "It start now? It start now?"
approximately 20 times before it finally starts.



This morning we loaded up the washer and poured in the soap. Camden promptly asked, "It start now?" to which I replied "It has to finish filling up before the wash will start. Remember it takes a little while." Camden watched the water fill for a few seconds before responding, "I know. I just have to be patient."

My heart just melted.

S'mores

Yes, it was ridiculously hot.
But that didn't stop us from starting a fire and roasted marshmallows.



This was Camden's first s'more experience and it's safe to say he enjoyed the chocolate, marshmallow and cracker sandwich.
Really, who doesn't?



And on a random note: the little grill was a disposable grill we picked up on a whim while in line to checkout at Wal~Mart. I think it has to be one of the most useful "as seen on TV" products that we've purchased. (not that we've purchased many) It's actually works,
not only for s'mores but for burgers too.

Water Balloon Fight

Brian's mom had picked up a package of water balloons and brought them to the beach house for use to fill and throw. We did just that one afternoon after Camden's nap. It took us at least three times long to fill them than it did to pop them but we had a blast for the few short minutes they lasted. Especially Brian and Matt
who decided that they were both out for blood.
(luckily, none was shed but there were a few bumps and hard hits)







The car, which was used for a shield and hiding spot and, in Camden's case, a target; was not harmed in the process.

Beach Baby

Brian's family rented a beach house in Galveston and flew in late last week to start their hot and humid Houston vacation. Brian, Camden and I spent four days with them on the island before
Brian had to head back to work.



What do you do when you have a house on the beach?
Head to the beach every morning to splash in the
waves and dig in the sand.
Which we did!

Independence Day

We really wanted to share the whole fireworks experience with Camden since he's finally old enough to be excited about it. We went back and forth on an exact location and toyed with the idea of going downtown before finally settling on a local park that was close to our house. We played (as much as we could with the crowd), walked through the park, ate watermelon and spent some time
running around in the grass.

We finished the night up with the fireworks display.
While waiting for the show to start Camden took the
opportunity to ham it up for the camera.



Needless to say the amount of ammunition couldn't compare to what we would have seen downtown but was very impressive none the less.
Camden loved "all the colors" and said they looked like "polka dots."
